Great Beaches - Florida Gulf Coast

[M]y family works and plays on the West Coast of Florida – the Gulf Coast. Florida has lots to offer and is one of the prettiest places I have lived; and I have lived in many places. Our area on the central west coast is also known as the nature coast.

Florida summers definitely mean beach time and we have beautiful beaches to choose from.

Here are a few of my favorite beaches in my area.

Anclote River Park is in Holiday, Fl just above the Pinellas-Pasco county line. You can reserve a shelter weekdays but not weekends. Click on the link to get more information and pictures. There is a $5 per day boat launch fee.

Robert K. Reese Memorial Park AKA Green Key Great Beaches Florida Gulf Coast

Beach in New Port Richey  was renamed although it will always be Green Key to us long-time residents. It can be found at 4835 Green Key Road. A community park consisting of 45 acres located on the Gulf of Mexico; there a 650′ boardwalk takes you through the mangroves and wetland property to the north side of the park, and, in addition, has a small two-deck observation tower where you will spot dolphins, sea cranes and other birds.

Hudson Beach Park in Hudson, FL is at 6325 Clark Street on Skeleton Key. Hudson Beach Park has a nice playground for the kids and an observation tower with great views of the water.  Several restaurants are close by when you get the urge for a snack.

Neighboring to the south are the Pinellas Beaches

Fred Howard Park  is 155 acres on the Gulf of Mexico in north Pinellas County. The white sandy beach is a very popular north county swim area and also provides a perfect location for visitors to enjoy many spectacular sunsets. Fred Howard Park also has a great picnic area. Nesting ospreys and eagles make for fun to watch.

Sunset Beach

Sunset Beach in Tarpon Springs is a small, secluded beach that is absolutely beautiful. One of our favorites. However, the parking area is small so head out early on holidays. I wrote a blog about Sunset Beach and its black headed parrots a few years ago.

It is located south of Howard Park on Gulf Road in Tarpon Springs.

These are a few of my favorite beaches close to the area of Tarpon Springs and New Port Richey, FL
